Another end to another INKtober! Thanks everyone for participating and tuning in. The hardest thing this year for me wasn’t the actual drawing, but the scanning and posting. I missed 5 days. Four of which were weekends and one day I spent half the day in the ER for my little guy Calvin (he’s doing fine now). My big takeaway from this month is I got in the habit of daily imagining. Professional artists spend most of their day working on the meat of a project. It’s the grind of actually rendering out an illustration, or drawing and inking a comic page. It’s the production stuff that ends up being the finished product. Often times weeks will go by where I’ve just colored all day. But the gravy, the sweet stuff, that’s when you first think of an idea and you sketch out the possibilities. There’s no thought of how you’ll actually implement it, or even if it will be in the finished version of the project, it’s just pure imagination on a page. Sometimes you get so involved in the implementation that the imagination atrophies a little. That’s why it’s so important to keep a sketchbook and draw in it daily. Those little sketches are finished projects en utero and they keep your mind sharp. And now, I thought I’d post the whole month’s drawings in one shot. Here you go: Here’s a video of me drawing the archer. Here’s a video of me drawing the robot warrior. Thanks for checking these out and have a great day!
