This is it! The last day of the Antler Boy Kickstarter is upon us. As of this morning, the project is creeping up against the $80K mark and stands at $76,799! Almost 100 people backed Antler Boy just yesterday! Want to say hello to all you new backers who are getting in on this just now. Glad you’re on board and thanks for backing!
Today is the last chance to modify your pledge and add that extra book or print to your order. I get a couple questions about this everyday so I thought I’d take this last minute to tell everybody that if you want another book or print as a gift to someone you can add an extra $25 to your order and I’ll add it to your reward. I just ask that you also message me directly to tell me exactly what you want added, be it a book, print, or extra set of cards. It’s super simple, just click on the blue “Manage My Pledge” button on the right of the Antler Boy Kickstarter page and follow the directions.
Ok, next up I want to share with you some more artwork.
Checkers Development Art
Checkers was originally published in Flight Volume 8 and it’s my 4th story in the whole series. Initially it was an idea for a webcomic that I came up with a couple years ago but shelved it due to some creative block. But when the deadline for Flight was approaching this story popped back up and I knew I had to do it.
I struggled a little with how the main character should look:
But it dawned on me I should base her on the one little girl I know the best: my daughter. This is pretty much a caricature of her.
These are some earlier sketches of the girl and her imaginary friend. I originally was going to call it Eva & Buns, but I thought the name Checkers suited the story better. Who knows, I may return to these characters in the future and call them by their names then.
And here are a few more pages from the actual story. Can’t wait for you to read the whole thing because I really like how this one turned out.
More Secret of the Spacecave Pages
I think these might be the last Secret of the Spacecave pages I show you. Don’t want to spoil the surprise!
All right, have a great day!
